Auspire - Australia Day Council WA (ADCWA) is an independent, non-profit, membership based association, founded in 1977.

We are part of the ‘national family’ of eight State and Territory Australia Day Councils and our peak body is the National Australia Day Council.

Our role at Auspire-ADCWA is to promote what it means to be Australian and encourage all Australians living in Western Australia to embrace active citizenship and Australian values, to feel pride and a sense of belonging, and most importantly, a desire to contribute to a better Australia.

We believe that Australian citizenship is a shared identity; a common bond which unites all Australians while respecting their diversity. We encourage a sense of national unity and belonging by promoting and engendering alignment with core Australian values which include:

Respect – of self, of others, of law and the environment we all live in

Inclusion – celebration of equality, of difference and the freedoms and rights all individuals are entitled to

Mateship – the spirit of egalitarianism, our openess and informality

Fair go – both with the tenacity of how we apply ourselves and the belief of providing opportunity for all

We seek to bring all Australians living in WA along our journey towards a united and socially cohesive country, not just on Australia Day, but every day of the year.

We do this by acknowledging our past through cultural awareness and reconciliation; rejoicing in the present with our awards, recognition programs and celebration of achievement; and looking confidently to our future by embracing diversity and promoting inclusiveness and participation by all Australians to make our country better.

Auspire-ADCWA runs several year-round programs and initiatives including:

  • The Australian of the Year Awards (WA)
  • Aussie of the Month recognition program in schools
  • Community Citizen of the Year Awards for Local Government
  • Great Australian Leadership events
  • Alumni Awareness, Forums and Events
  • Social Inclusion Programs and Initiatives
  • Australia Day Ambassador Program
  • Civics and Citizenship Workshops and Leadership Forums
  • Being Australian promotions, campaigns and social media activation.

We could not do what we do without the funding and support from our stakeholders and sponsors. These include the Australian Government (via the National Australia Day Council), the State Government, our membership base (including all Local Councils, Corporates and Individual Members), sponsorships, grants, merchandise sales and partnerships with like-minded organisations.
